FSMTA Replaces Staff, What Now?

Last year, shortly after FSMTA's annual conference they announced their plans to go national—this year they shut down their office and let go of their corporate staff.

In a letter addressed to members, FSMTA president Joyce Prahasky said, "This letter is to advise you that the Executive Committee has decided to close our Altamonte Springs office. This was a difficult decision; however, ultimately we had to do what was best for the FSMTA."

Goldman Association Management (GAM), a successful association management firm, was hired to run FSMTA operations—including conventions, membership, publishing and marketing.

The Prahasky letter cites multiple associations and groups that have seen exponential growth with GAM, but also notes an estimated savings of over $100,000 a year (a cost-analysis spreadsheet was included in the address to members).

Along with this change FSMTA welcomes a new executive director, Barbara Sprauge from GAM. GAM corporate offices are in Tampa, where FSMTA business will be conducted.

Members are encouraged to reach out to GAM with any questions, however a Q&A section answers a barrage of possible concerns, such as membership dues, FSMTA's current financial state, and insurance questions and applications, to name a few.

The phone number will remain the same, 407-786-3307. You may also email Joyce Prahasky at: statepresident@fsmta.org.

Prahasky ends the letter with, "This decision was not made in a hastily [manner.] We looked at a several companies in order to obtain bids as well as interviewing them to determine which would be the best fit."
