In February the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) proposed four members—Kia H. Countess, DNP, MSN, RN, CNE; Nathan Nordstrom, LMT, LMP, BCTMB; Grant J. Rich, Ph.D., LMT, BCTMB; and Portia B. Resnick, PhD, ATC, LMT, BCTMB—for the 2018 certification board.

After consideration by the NCB community, 95.8 percent of eligible members that voted approved the new board members. They join current certification board president, Teresa M. Matthews, LMT, CPT, BCTMB.

In response to the announcement Matthews commented, "First, I would like to thank our members for showing great interest and taking the time to participate in this recent election. The Slate Selection Commission worked diligently for many months leading up to this to ensure our new members met the high standards required of national board service. Our members' overwhelming support these past two weeks validated such efforts. We welcome Kia, Nathan, Grant, and Portia to the Board, and look forward to the many great things we will accomplish together."

The NCBTMB Certification Board is responsible for all aspects of the achievement of Board Certification, including developing certification criteria and examinations, evaluating candidates for certification, and maintaining the integrity of the certification process. The Certification Board ensures that NCBTMB maintains its status as an accredited certifying body within the massage therapy profession.
