This Month's Spa: The Spa at the Hotel Ritz, Madrid, Spain - 61 points:

The Massage Mice received a below-average massage at the Spa at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid, Spain. The massage table was very narrow and too short. Both clients had to position their hands under their bodies, so their arms would not dangle off the sides. The table was too hard and uncomfortably sectioned, and did not have a detachable face cradle - the cradle was part of the table itself. The therapist did not ask any questions before beginning the massage. Consequently, the massage was too light because the therapist did not know what was needed.

The general technique, time allocation, draping, and oils used were good; however, the massage had a limited relaxation effect. No water or refreshments were offered at the conclusion of the session. The room was small and hot - well over 80 degrees. Although the lighting was soothing, the music ran out early and was not continued. No aromatherapy was used.

Reservations were handled promptly and efficiently; however, the receptionist did not direct the massage mice to a locker room. Instead, they were directed to change in the massage room. The waiting room also was nondescript.
