Jason Wong received the first annual "Spa Humanitarian of the Year Award" at Spacifically 2002. The award was presented by Karen Crawford, Spacifically show director, and Hannelore Leavy, executive director of the Day Spa Association.

Mr. Wong, owner of Eden Day Spa in lower Manhattan, New York, provided water, food, massages, skincare supplies and other services free of charge to survivors and rescue workers following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. He and his staff continued to provide massage services to rescue workers digging through the rubble for nearly eight months.

"Eden Day Spa gave uninterrupted, free aid to countless rescue workers and victims at the site of the World Trade Center disaster," said Ms. Crawford. "We hope that this award will help Eden to receive the acknowledgement and support they deserve to offset the financial sacrifice they have made in the past year."

Convened October 6-8 at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Spacifically, the third annual "Conference & Exposition for Spa, Resort & Hotel Executives" featured 200 exhibit booths with spa-related products, equipment and merchandise. The conference focused on the business of running a spa and offering spa services at hotels, resorts, hair salons, and other facilities.
