First Massage Practice-Based Research Network Launches

PRESS RELEASE - MassageNet (www.massagenet.org), a new practice-based research network for the massage therapy and bodywork field was recently developed to address the increasing need for research in the massage therapy profession.

MassageNet uses data gathered from massage therapists and their clients in real-world settings. This differs from the majority of research studies available in that the research gathered actually occurs within therapists' practices, rather than in a research laboratory. The research conducted by MassageNet is aimed at increasing recognition of the massage therapy profession and at recognizing the invaluable role therapists play in the health and wellness field.

MassageNet's mission is to develop a channel for communication between massage therapists, students, researchers, educators, administrators and healthcare policy makers. MassageNet will also conduct primary research and share research findings to expand the body of knowledge available in the field of massage therapy. MassageNet's website, www.massagenet.org, will serve as a key resource for linking massage therapists with the research studies in which they can get involved as well as communicating the latest research findings available in the field.

MassageNet is provided free of charge and is supported by a grant from the Massage Therapy Foundation. Information about how to join MassageNet can be found on the website at www.massagenet.org.
