American Massage Conference Draws Large Crowd

The inagural American Massage Conference welcomed hundreds of massage therapists and students to the Holiday Inn Capitol Conference Center in Atlanta May 20-22. The conference featured more than 50 exhibitors, continuing education in the forms of 1-hour, 3-hour or 1 or 2-day workshops, a Friday night Facebook party and a Saturday night reception.

The exhibit hall featured 1 hour presentations on products/services/courses, as well as 3 hour workshops covering "SMART Marketing with Social Media," "Post Surgical Treatment of Mastectomy/Breast Implants," and "General Business: Take Your Practice to teh Next Level." All education was NCBTMB-approved. More than 300 students registered for the Sunday morning free student seminar followed by a job fair. Several Massage Today columnists and contributors were AMC presenters and educators, including Whitney Lowe, David Kent, James Waslaski, Laura Allen, Ann Catlin, and Tina Allen just to name a few.

The winners of the Massage Today $500 raffle were Ann Louise Horgan and Rosa Williams. Massage Today was also the recipient of the 2011 American Massage Conference Global Media Award for its outstanding work in informing and supporting the massage therapy profession.

The second American Massage Conference will be held at the Town and Country Resort and Conference Center in San Diego from April 20-22, 2012. Registration for this event will begin in September of 2011. For more information, visit
