Alliance's Founding Member Campaign Moves Into Final Week

The Alliance for Massage Therapy Education, a new independent organization for massage schools and educators, has been conducting a FOUNDING MEMBER CAMPAIGN over the past six weeks.

Thus far, more than $25,000 has been contributed to help launch the Alliance. This special program will end on November 30.

Founding Members include:

  • SCHOOLS: Potomac Massage Training Institute (Washington, DC); Florida School of Massage (Gainesville, FL); Irene's Myomassology Institute (Southfield, MI)

  • CONTINUING ED PROVIDERS: Erik Dalton, PhD (Freedom from Pain Institute); Claire Marie Miller (Nurturing the Mother Seminars); Michael Shea, PhD (Shea Educational Group)

  • TEACHERS: Sandy Friedland (Educating Hands School of Massage); Carol Verner (Body Therapy Institute); Vilma Pico (Technical Career Institute)

  • INDUSTRY PARTNERS: The Art of Admissions (Lex Filipowski); Books of Discovery (Andrew Biel); Florida State Massage Therapy Association

These, and other dedicated individuals and institutions have stepped forward in a historic effort to bring forth an organization that will serve as the voice, advocate and resource for the entire massage education community. There is just one week remaining in this Founding Member Campaign, so all interested people are encouraged to go to the Alliance's website at www.afmte.org for complete information on how to join.

Note that Founding Member contributions will apply to the 2010 dues in each of the membership categories. Those who join by November 30 will have their names listed on a page on the Alliance's website, and will receive a commemorative certificate that acknowledges their leadership role in establishing the Alliance.

The Alliance's General Membership Drive will begin on December 1 for the 2010 calendar year. Information on the dues structure, and the features and benefits of membership will be posted to the Alliance website on that date. There will also be a special discounted package of membership with registration for the Alliance's First Annual Conference, to be held in Park City, Utah on June 3-5, 2010.

About the Alliance:

The Alliance for Massage Therapy Education has been created to serve the entire education sector - from entry-level training programs through post-graduate studies. The Alliance will strengthen and improve massage education by providing information and educational opportunities to institutions, administrators, teachers and continuing education providers; provide forums for learning, fellowship and mutual support; and represent the interests of members.
