CAMTC to Hold Public Meetings

By Dixie Wall, Contributing Editor

The passing of California Senate Bill 731 in September 2008, established the voluntary certification for massage therapists along with the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC), which held their first meeting in February of this year. Recently, the CAMTC has increased momentum, meeting frequently to discuss bylaws, different portals into the two-tiered certification process, exams, fees, and more.

Due to the numerous questions the Board has received from several massage therapists, business owners and spa managers in the Los Angeles area, the CAMTC will hold a series of public meetings in the area. All concerned parties, including some city regulatory agencies are welcome to attend with their questions to better understand this new portable voluntary certification process. Meetings are tentatively set to begin in August. For more information on the upcoming meetings including dates and locations, please go to

Editor's note: Massage Today will continue to follow the progress of the CAMTC, and provide details online and in print as available.
