NYC to Host Medical Spa Expo and Conference

By Editorial Staff

Touted as "the first event on the East Coast dedicated to the fast-growing medical spa market, and the related physicians and day spa owners driving this new health trend that combines clinical and comfort care," the Medical Spa (Medi-Spa) Expo and Conference will be held April 26-27 in New York City.

The event, coordinated by Reed Exhibitions of Norwalk, Conn., is being sponsored by the Medical Spa Society, the National Coalition of Esthetic & Related Professionals Association, and The Spa Association, among others.

The conference program will cover medical spa development; successful operational techniques; innovative marketing ideas; new concepts in spas; and trends for the future of the industry.

"The number of medical spas is growing every day," commented Nancy Shenker, Reed's senior vice president of marketing. "Physicians are realizing the benefits of enhancing their practices with spa services - and likewise, spas are learning how to increase revenue through the integration of clinical treatments."

The inaugural Medi-Spa Expo and Conference will be held in conjunction with the Spa & Resort Expo and Conference (April 27-28), which held its first event last year. (Editor's note: See "New York City to Host Spa & Resort Expo and Conference" in the March 2002 issue:

An estimated 2,500 industry professionals are expected to attend this year's conference, including spa owners and managers, cosmetologists, estheticians and massage therapists. The scheduled keynote speaker for the Spa & Resort program is Georgette Mosbacher, CEO of Borghese, author of The Feminine Force and It Takes Money, Honey, and former CEO of multimillion-dollar skin care line La Prairie.
