Spa Finder Magazine Recognizes Top Spas

By Editorial Staff

Spa Finder Magazine announced the grand-prize winners of its Readers Choice Awards at a gala dinner on the closing night of the International Spa Association (ISPA) Convention in Anaheim, California.

The original Readers' Choice Awards recognized readers' favorite destination and resort spas in 20 categories, including "Best Value for Your Money," "Best Hiking" and "Most Luxurious Environments." Nearly 2,500 Spa Finder Magazine readers and visitors to Spa Finder's Web site cast ballots for more than 500 spa properties, with winners announced in the publication's September/October 2002 issue.

The October 22 dinner recognized the top overall spas in their size class, and the top international spas by region.

Grand-prize award winners included:

  • Boutique Spa: Birdwing Spa (Minn.)
  • Small Spa: Golden Door (Calif.)
  • Medium Spa: Green Valley Spa (Utah)
  • Large Spa: Miraval, Life in Balance (Ariz.)
  • Mega Spa: Canyon Ranch (Ariz.)

International award winners included:

  • Europe: Brenner's Park Hotel (Germany)
  • Canada: Willow Stream, The Spa at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (Alberta)
  • Mexico: Rancho La Puerta (Baja)
  • Asia: Nusa Dua Beach Hotel (Indonesia)
  • Central/South America and Caribbean: Wyndham El Conquistador Resort & Country Club, Las Casitas Village and Golden Door Spa (Puerto Rico)

"The goal of our Readers' Choice Awards, ultimately, is to introduce travelers to spas that will provide them with a great experience," enthused Spa Finder Chairman and CEO Pete Ellis. "It's [the awards] as much a consumer guide as it is an industry accolade."
