NACCAS to Unveil National Licensing Database

By Editorial Staff

The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences (NACCAS) in Alexandria, Virginia, has launched a preliminary national licensing database of practicing cosmetologists.

Ideally, the database will allow for cosmetology licensing information to be available to spas and salons in any state.

According to the NACCAS, this will allow cosmetologists to seek employment across state lines without the frustration and potential complications involved in processing paperwork. NACCAS believes that the national database will also reduce potential license forgeries and the proliferation of fake paperwork that too-often occurs in the professional salon industry.

Seven states have already agreed to work with NACCAS on this project, with the hope that soon all 50 states will participate. To find out if your state has already joined this project (and if you are included), or to get more information on you and other cosmetologists in your state being listed in the NACCAS national licensing database, contact the NACCAS by phone: (703) 600-7600 or fax: (703) 379-2200.
